2007, Hirschi house, Adligenswil

Like a prairie house – and yet inside the village.
Hirschi house, Adligenswil 2005–2007
Spatial abundance & diversity characterises this house, which features two large family apartments and one flatlet. The panoramic view of the Alpine foothills dominates all the rooms. Daylight shines in everywhere – even in the bathrooms and toilets. Our ambition was to fully exploit the complex topographical situation – hillside location, steep terrain – with a wide spectrum of sectional variations.
Hirschi house was planned and built simultaneously with the James development. Thanks to this coincidence, we could explore – in a smaller format, but still at scale 1:1 – the spatial effects of our Mexican colour palette. The fact that, in the meantime, the client's eldest son married his Mexican girlfriend, was certainly no disadvantage regarding the colourfulness of this house.
