Blood brothers like Winnetou and Old Shatterhand
Residential and office building Hard Turm Park, BFA1, Zurich, Switzerland, 2012–2017
At the edge of the actual, „built" city, in the (former) industrial area in the Western part of Zurich („Züri-West“) sits the cornerstone of the area named "Hard Turm Park".
Both parts of the house are welded together to form a hybrid whole. It accommodates 108 apartments and offices for 1’000 workplaces.
The residential building is located on the northern half of the construction site – a difficult starting position with regard to the sunlight.
The apartments are therefore arranged at right angles, but they are turned off to the coordinate system of the streets. They thus face South. This trick enables extremely „deep“ apartments, which, in combination with the striking two-storey loggias, allow surprisingly much light to penetrate into their rooms.
