Living in the trees. Multi-family apartment building, Zurich, Switzerland, 2020–2022
House 5 on Langgrütweg is the most recent of five buildings we are building for GEWOBAG cooperative. It is characterised by a densification in favour of open space quality. The complex with access to three apartments from one staircase allows an optimal orientation of the apartments and a strong relationship to the open space.
A cubic staggering gives the building a slender shape and a filigree appearance. The small footprint enables the preservation of a mighty oak tree and at the same time leads to a spatial strengthening of the striking green outside corridor. Large, expansive balconies enrich the house, while a brick shell establishes a connection to the house on Langgrütstrasse.
